SolidXperts at the 48 Hour-Ride for Make-A-Wish

There are tens of thousands of children in Canada and the United States who suffer from life-threatening medical conditions.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation was founded in the United States as a non-profit organization that endeavours to provide those ill children with memorable experiences described as ʺwishesʺ that embody their dreams and aspirations.

The inspiration for this organization derived from the dream of 7-year old Christopher James Greicius (August 13, 1972 – May 3, 1980), who in the spring of 1980 was being treated for leukemia. His ambition was to become a police officer. U.S. Customs Officer Tommy Austin became friends with Chris and received help from officers at the Arizona Department of Public Safety to arrange an event in hopes of comforting Greicius. Chris would go on to spend the day as an official police officer, riding in a police helicopter, receiving a custom-tailored police uniform, and being sworn in as the first honorary Public Safety patrolman in state history. Not long after, Greicius passed away, but his ʺwishʺ became a cornerstone for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

The 48-HOUR RIDE is a unique, family-oriented, and festive experience with all the funds raised being directed to further making ill children’s wishes come true. This memorable weekend on September 14th to the 16th 2018 at the ICAR Circuit and Main Deck at Montréal-Mirabel Airport will bring bicycle riders together for one common passion: the love of children. Over the years, the 48-HOUR RIDE has raised more than $11 millions dollars to grant children with serious illness’ wishes. Each year, more than 250 teams, 1,500 riders and 450 volunteers experience this human and emotionally charged experience.

The SolidXperts team of riders this year consists of:

For our first edition, we committed our team to raise $3 600, which is the minimum for the right to participate. However, each team member can aim for a higher goal than the minimum of $600.

The energy that will inevitably emerge on the track and on the site is incomparable! The concept for this event is simple yet rewarding. For 48 hours, the SolidXperts team members will take turns biking on a safe track according to their own schedule. There is no minimum distance or speed to reach, but there must always be a rider on the track.

SolidXperts is proud to participate in this noble cause! Not only do we get to aid children with life-threatening medical conditions, we get to do so while fostering our team spirit, contributing to a healthy lifestyle full of the pleasures that come with physical activity. Consider sponsoring the SolidXperts team to join us in this unforgettable weekend and amazing cycling adventure!
