We will be located on the Williston Campus in building 400 in room 401A. You can park anywhere around this building.


  • 5:30 PM – 6:00 PM - Doors Open, Introduction, Dinner & Networking
  • 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM - SOLIDWORKS In Space! – This session presents an extended case study of the use of SOLIDWORKS® at the UNH Space Science Center. We will review parts from the IBEX, MMS, and Solar Orbiter NASA small explorer missions. There will also be a review of the part that forced a transition from Pro/E Wildfire to SOLIDWORKS for the IBEX entrance system. Attendees will learn some tips and tricks for improving rebuild time and edit ability with regard to large patterns. There will also be some review of using eDrawings® and Treehouse to further support the documentation and engineering peer review phase of a government contract program.
  • 7:00PM – 7:30PM - Break
  • 7:30PM – 8:30PM - Tips and Tricks – This presentation will focus on several examples of complex shapes and discuss the approach to modeling each. Attendees will learn a multitude of surface and solid modeling techniques, keyboard shortcuts, and interaction efficiencies that will help them tackle even the most complex design.
  • 8:30PM – 9:00PM - Closing & Door prize give away.

About the Presenters

john-nolinJohn Nolin began his career with a BSME from UMass Lowell. His first CAD system was VersaCAD on an original IBM PC. He has been using SOLIDWORKS since 1998 and was part of the team that built Hole Wizard and Toolbox. John was actually trying to buy Toolbox 2D for AutoCAD® when he became an employee of CIMLOGIC. His mechanical design experience has ranged from infrared optics, to broadcast antenna systems to solar physics instruments and support equipment for NASA spacecraft. John Nolin is now a SENIOR Application Specialist for SolidXperts (New-England)

Sal LAMA is a member of the Product Definition team at SolidWorks and is responsible for defining functionality for new releases of the software. He holds a BSME from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and has been a SolidWorks user since 1996.

About the NVTSWUG?

The Northern Vermont SolidWorks User Group (NVTSWUG) was founded in December of 2004. The group’s goal is to provide an environment in which the members can advance their knowledge and abilities in SolidWorks and other related products and technologies. The group also provides a great source for networking. The group is run entirely by member volunteers. Our membership is made up of designers, engineers and CAD specialist who use or have an interest in SolidWorks 3D solid modeling software.
