3DPartFinder on SolidWorks
The advanced geometry-based search capability of 3DPartFinder accurately identifies similar parts and duplicates. Its unique advanced geometry-based search capability enables part re-use.
The key to skyrocketing savings!
In order to identify parts already in your database that are similar to what you are looking for, you can launch 3DPartFinder and use a 3D CAD file to find all similar parts. Also, with just a few clicks of your mouse, you can create a 3D sketch of your part and launch 3DPartFinder. Within seconds, 3DPartFinder will have uncovered all the similar 3D CAD files in a SolidWorks assembly.

How does it work?
3DPartFinder uses geometric CAD data for its search rather than alphanumeric characters. It can search a database with millions of parts and identify duplicate and/or similar geometry in seconds without the need for manual part pre-classification.
One of the key aspects of the semantics is the “signature” of the 3D model. The signature of a 3D model is a small file (about 15K) created from its shape analysis. This signature is not a compressed version of the CAD model. In fact, it is a mathematical representation of the 3D shape that is irreversible, encrypted and therefore protects the intellectual property of its owner.
