The Skills Canada National Competition is an event that aims to raise public awareness of the professions that involve vocational and technical training.

This 15th edition in Québec was coordinated by the organization Compétences Québec and was held on May 3rd and 4th, 2018 at Place Bonaventure, Montreal. The other competition took place in Edmonton, Alberta at the Edmonton EXPO Centre on June 4th and 5th. Only the most prestigious prospects of the next generation in the skilled trades were crowned as victors. Nearly 500 young people from all regions of Canada took part, including Raoul Surprenant.

Raoul Surprenant is a third-year mechanical engineering student at the CEGEP of Saint Laurent who won the gold medal in the Mechanical Engineering Computer Aided Design category. Many criteria were evaluated to assess Raoul’s four-wheeler design, for example: the aesthetic, the endurance of the mechanism, as well as its cost and overall performance.

We at SolidXperts would like to congratulate Raoul Surprenant who, continuing his adventure, will be qualifying for the 45th WorldSkills Competition 2019 in Russia. We wish him much success in the upcoming contest and in his continued progress with SOLIDWORKS!
